Chinese fans get an Angry Birds Seasons Episode specially created for them

Good news for all the Angry Birds fans out there! The new Seasons episode, called Moon Festival, is now available for iPhone, iPad and Android. This update celebrates the Mid-Autumn festival, observed by people in China and Vietman. The festival, also known as the Moon Festival, the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival, dates back over 3000 years, and is a very important holiday in the Chinese calendar.
The game’s latest episode comes with 30 new levels, and some players are already complaining that they are more challenging than any previous Seasons episodes, but I guess this is only going to make the game more addictive. Besides the ever angry birds, in this update you will encounter the pigs, who are donning Asian headpieces, rabbits, lanterns and pagodas. Also, there are 8 pieces of Mooncake hidden in the game, and once you find all of them, you will be able to unlock a special extra level.

The Mighty Eagle, the most destructive bird in the game, is available for this episode, as well. For those interested, you should know that this is a one-time in-app purchase, and it will cost you $0.99. The Mighty Eagle can help you with a tough level, by destroying everything in its path. It can also be used for skipping one level, or unlocking the next one. One thing you should keep in mind, though: you will be able to use the Mighty Eagle to skip a level just once every 60 minutes.
The Moon Festival episode is part of Rovio’s plan to “conquer” China. The company is hoping its popular game will get 100 million downloads by the end of the year in China. With this latest episode, Rovio is also offering Angry Birds-themed mooncakes, the traditional Moon Festival pastry, to its Chinese fans. Future plans of the Finnish company include the opening of several outlet stores that will offer official game products, from plush toys to shoes. China has become Rovio’s 2nd largest market, after U.S., and it is believed that the Angry Birds brand is the 3rd favorite brand in China’s electronic entertainment division.
